Emissions data - 01 July 2021 to 30 June 2022

These graphs show 12 months of daily average emissions data for the period of July 2021 through the end of June 2022 for the following emissions categories: particulate matter, total organic carbon, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen chloride and nitrous oxides. Each chart shows emissions data taken directly from the site's Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) along with an orange dotted line indicating the permitted level for that type of emission. Moving forward, we will publish emissions data each month.

Fly reports in the local area

Following the recent spell of spring weather, we have received a number of reports of flies in the local area. We have taken several proactive steps in response and would like to reassure our neighbours that we are closely monitoring the situation and liaising with the Environment Agency and our pest control providers to identify and thoroughly address any potential sources of flies on site.

Fire alarms sounding 28 February 2022

On Monday, 28 February the fire suppression and monitoring system at the Eco Park sounded a false alarm at 09:26.

Eco Park update - December 2021

Both the anaerobic digestion and gasification facilities have been performing well. The gasifier completed a continuous run of over two months at 95% availability, performing well and with all emissions within permitted levels.

New year, new materials diverted for reuse in Surrey

Medical equipment like walking frames and crutches can now be sent for reuse in Surrey. On 14 January, the first batch of equipment was collected from the recycling centre at the Eco Park and sent to be put back in use in the community.

Steam leak on 16 January 2022

In the early hours of Sunday 16 January, we experienced a high-pressure steam leak as we were bringing the gasifier back online after the planned shutdown in December 2021. The leak was small, however, the high pressure behind it caused a noise that was audible to near neighbours.

Power cut to AD facility - temporary use of gas flare

On Saturday, 08 January we experienced an unexpected power outage to the AD facility due to an issue on the Distribution Network Operator's (DNO) side of the grid connection across the railway line, which is operated by Scottish and Southern Electricity (SSE). This meant that we temporarily needed to use the flare and operate on backup generators until the connection was restored.

What comes out of the stack? Emissions and monitoring at the Eco Park

Emissions from the stack are mostly steam (the largest and only visible emission), with oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and tiny amounts of pollutants that are within the Environment Agency's (EA) permitted limits and in line with strict EU regulations.
