Considerate Constructors Scheme

The Eco Park’s main building contractor, M+W Group, are members of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, an independent organisation.  The scheme covers five areas – appearance of the site, respect for the community, protecting the environment, safety and valuing the workforce – and members agree to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice.

A scheme assessor visited the Eco Park in spring and awarded M+W a score of 40, an “A1 Star Rated Performance”.

Eco Park working hours

Building work will take place between 7.30am and 6.30pm on weekdays.

Some Saturday working will be needed and this will be between 7.30am and 2.30pm.

Planning permission has been granted which allows building work at any time (excluding bank holidays) inside the anaerobic digestion facility, gasification facility and office and education centre, once the buildings are enclosed. This will involve non-intrusive work such as installing building systems, pipework, electrical equipment and wiring, and specific noise limits are in place to ensure nearby residents aren’t disturbed by the works.

The bulking facility opens at 7am to begin operations at 7.30am and closes at 6pm Monday to Saturday. Sunday it is open from 8am to 5pm.  It has temporary planning permission until the end of 2017 to load and send out up to six bulk lorries between 6pm and 8pm Monday to Saturday if required, to assist whilst the site’s capacity is restricted during construction.

The community recycling centre opening hours are:

Monday to Saturday - 8.00am to 4.00pm

Sunday - 9.00am to 4.00pm

Local air quality monitoring

Following discussions with Spelthorne Borough Council, we have installed equipment to the north east of the site to monitor local air quality. This monitors concentrations of nitrogen oxides and small dust particles (PM2.5 and PM10) in the local air and the first set of results will be available in summer 2017.

Eco Park lorry access routes

Construction traffic, SUEZ lorries and bulk lorries servicing the site should travel to and from the site using the A244 Upper Halliford bypass and should not travel through Charlton village.

A dedicated entrance has been created for construction traffic, and deliveries are scheduled to avoid peak times and staggered to minimise potential congestion.
